PPCP: 5 lessons to apply on a daily basis

The area of Production Planning, Programming and Control (PPCP), is focused on acting in factories, based on engineering, supply chain and industry 4.0. PPCP allows you to generate strategic intelligence that enhances the production process of industries. Neo is a engineering technology consultancy. Part of our team is composed of professionals with various specialties in engineering. In constant expansion, our team is increasingly diverse and multidisciplinary. Therefore, our engineering professionals and other areas have placed the test and now indicate 5 PPCP lessons that can be applied to everyday life, far beyond industrial reality.

Learn the 5 PPCP lessons to apply in your daily life:

1 - Learn your limit

It seems obvious, but it is always important to remember that every person, area and company has a maximum capacity that prevents them from producing infinitely. As much as our desire is to embrace the world, the availability of resources - whether they are machinery, raw materials or human capital - is finite. Therefore, it is always necessary to know how to respect the limits, whether in PPCP or in life.

2 - Everything is well reprogrammed

The productive environment of industries is extremely dynamic, with changes in priority of service, production delay, breaking machines and various factors that are able to generate a ripple effect and demand the reprogramming of the entire factory. Answering this reality quickly and with a good plan is what allows PPCP's work to be more analytical and decisive. Replacing is, yes, harder than planning. But you need to be prepared for the unforeseen events so that you can respond agilely, with greater control and achieving the best possible results.

‍

3 - Synchrony

The food and beverage industry has a complex dynamic to synchronize intermediate material and finished filling steps. Already in the packaging industry, the completion of a single piece requires several steps. Therefore, in the industrial sector, the synchronization between operations is critical. Without a critical look-and the specialized software-unnecessary machine stops are generated and an excess of Work in Progress. In work environments, without teams and synchronized processes there is a significant low productivity and sometimes a idle that brings damage that could be avoided.

4 - First Things First

Programming prioritization is fundamental in the industry. It is PPCP's role. APS tools , identify the sequencing that will prioritize products with critical inventories that reduce or prevent inventory breakdown. That is, to produce first what will have the highest positive impact must be a premise of PPCP. This same logic is applicable to any productive environment. Prioritize the most important processes, generate a better result and decrease the potential for damage. How many times have we started with the easiest or more pleasurable task and, because of this, face problems to deliver that important demand? Priority is essential!

5 - Analyze, analyze and analyze

As important as planning and replacing it is knowing how to analyze the scenarios. In the case of industries, both planning and production programming should be based on analysis. It is from them that it is possible to evaluate the efficiency , care and inventory level designed for the best decision making. And for you, what are the other aspects of planning, programming and production control that can serve as teaching for other areas? Tell us in the comments!
