PPC : 5 lessons to apply to your daily life

The Production Planning, Scheduling, and Control ( PPC ) area focuses on operations in factories, based on engineering, supply chain , and Industry 4.0. PPC enables the generation of strategic intelligence that improves industrial production processes. NEO is an engineering technology consultancy. Part of our team is comprised of professionals with diverse engineering specialties. Constantly expanding, our team is increasingly diverse and multidisciplinary. Therefore, our professionals—from engineering and other areas—have put their expertise to the test and now share five PPC that can be applied to everyday life, far beyond the industrial realm.

Learn 5 PPC lessons to apply in your daily life:

1 - Learn your limit

It seems obvious, but it's always important to remember that every person, field, and company has a maximum capacity that prevents them from producing infinitely. As much as we desire to embrace the world, the availability of resources—be they machinery, raw materials, or human capital—is finite. Therefore, it's always important to know how to respect limits, whether in PPC or in life.

2 - Everything is well reprogrammed

The industrial production environment is extremely dynamic, with shifting service priorities, production delays, machine breakdowns, and a variety of factors that can create a cascading effect and require the entire factory to be reprogrammed. Responding to this reality quickly and with a sound plan is what allows the PPC 's work to be more analytical and decisive. Replanning is, indeed, more difficult than planning. But it's important to be prepared for the unexpected so you can respond quickly, with greater control, and achieve the best possible results.

3 - Synchrony

The food and beverage industry has a complex dynamic involving synchronizing the manufacturing stages of intermediate materials and the bottling of finished products. In the packaging industry, completing a single part requires several steps. Therefore, in the industrial sector, synchronization between operations is crucial. Without a critical eye—and specialized software—unnecessary machine downtime and excessive work in progress are generated. It's messame in life! In work environments, without synchronized teams and processes, there is a significant drop in productivity and, at times, idle time that leads to avoidable losses.

4 - First Things First

Program prioritization is crucial in manufacturing. It's the role of PPC . With the help of APS , identify the sequence that will prioritize products with critical inventories, reducing or preventing stockouts. In other words, producing first what will have the greatest positive impact should be a PPC . mes logic applies to any and all production environments. Prioritizing the most important processes generates better results and reduces the potential for damage. How many times do we start with the easiest or most enjoyable task and, because of this, face problems delivering on that important demand? Prioritization is essential!

5 - Analyze, analyze and analyze

As important as planning and replacing it is knowing how to analyze the scenarios. In the case of industries, both planning and production programming should be based on analysis. It is from them that it is possible to evaluate the efficiency , care and inventory level designed for the best decision making. And for you, what are the other aspects of planning, programming and production control that can serve as teaching for other areas? Tell us in the comments!
