Opcenter or Preactor? What is the difference?
Some people who are historically familiar with Preactor APS now see the name Opcenter and ask us if it's the messoftware? The answer is yes, albeit with some additions!
Opcenter or Preactor?
Preactor has been the world leader in APS solutions for Production Planning and Scheduling with Finite Capacity for decades, and has been present in Brazil since the 1990s. Since 2013, it has been part of the Siemens Digital Industries Digitalization portfolio. Recently, it mesa rebranding, becoming Opcenter APS (which includes Planning and Scheduling solutions). The name Opcenter reflects its scope within MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management). Thus, it is one of the solutions focused on Operations, as well as products focused on Quality Management, Execution, R&D, among others. All these solutions are also part of the Opcenter portfolio, along with APS. Below you can see a brief overview of mes.

MOM will continue to be a leading mission-critical technology for digital transformation and for Siemens, as the company integrates its close-loop continuous improvement capabilities into other areas. MOM applications are not going away anytime soon; successful MOM implementations will have to be addressed within the context of overall digital transformation initiatives. Siemens seems to understand this well.”Furthermore, since its name change, new versions have been released, each with more new features. The latest version released was 18.4.
